Fairy 1st Birthday Party

I cannot believe I am sitting here writing this post. How did we make it through her first year of life already?! So many people say it goes so fast, but until you experience it for yourself, you don't believe them. This day brought so many emotions, sad because she's growing up, excitement because each day brings something new and it's so fun to watch them grow and learn new things, and joy being able to celebrate such a milestone, not just for her, but as parents also. It's such an accomplishment knowing we made it one year doing something we've never done before...and it's just the beginning!

The sole purpose of this post isn't to be a long and sappy post about how sad I am my baby is one (even though I am), but to share her First Birthday Party details. I received a lot of questions and responses to the photos I shared on Facebook and Instagram so I thought compiling a blog post and putting everything in one place would be helpful. Of course I need to give credit to Pinterest. I spent a lot of time scowering that website for ideas.

First, the theme (if the title of this post was any indication): Fairy 1st Birthday. I would be lying if I said I came up with it, but it was my very artistic husband. As soon as he said it I knew it was perfect! I started planning a few months in advance because, well, I like to plan ahead and I wanted it to be perfect. Even though it was fairy themed, I considered it more of a sprinkle of fairies. I incorporated a lot of wildflowers (from a local flower farm) and butterflies. It gave me a lot more options when it came to the decorations.

If you know me, I was going to be doing this party as frugal as I could with a few splurges here and there. The majority of the decorations didn't break the bank. Below are photos of the decorations that I used along with links that will take you to the exact products. If something isn't linked, then I either borrowed it or it isn't available anymore. The flower wall with her month photos and the tulle high chair skirt were both DIY. If anyone is interested I can share how I made those. The "Thank you fairy much for coming" sign was printed as a poster from Vista Print and just mounted to a poster board so it would stand. The vases in the center of the table were a combination of thrifted and dollar tree and the wood pieces were from a log my dad cut for me! As for the balloon arch, we were going to hire someone to come in and do one, but my husband decided to do it and he did such a wonderful job!

Now onto the food, drinks, cupcakes, and smash cake. My angel of a little sister took it upon herself to make the cupcakes and cake. She had this delicious recipe for wedding cake flavor. It's to die for (if anyone is interested I can ask for the recipe, but....she may not share :))!I did order the cookies from Etsy, but I was not overly impressed so I will not be sharing the link to where I ordered them. Each food and drink had their own fairy theme name. We kept it simple, but fun!

For one of my favorite parts, the party favors. The wildflowers we had picked the day before and placed in the vases. As people began to leave the party they got to take one of the vases home (that was mainly for the parents) and then the kids got a bag of Fairy Dust Popcorn. It was simple, but they loved it!

I think I have covered about everything except for her dress and shoes. Searching for the perfect outfit wasn't easy, but I had finally found it! I was going to add a flower crown to her head, but I knew it wouldn't stay on so I just used a simple bow that eventually made its way off too.

This is a day we will remember for forever! It took a team to make this come to life and I am so grateful we had so many people helping us. A big thank you to my sister who took photos the entire time and captured the most precious moments. All the photos on this blog post are thanks to her (a little plug, if you're in the area and are on the hunt for a photographer, I'll link her website here ).

Lots of Love,

Payge
